Pastor’s Corner

Posted by admin On February - 23 - 2009

PastorNelson Praise the Lord we have seen God’s blessing on Harvest Baptist church in the first part of 2009. Last Sunday Lt. Floreen Kim came forward to join tour church fellowship. We are so glad to have her becoming an active part of our church. This means we have had five new members come into our fellowship in January and February. Now we must pray that we will see more come during the month of March.

We are looking forward to March 15, the beginning of our Spring Revival-Evangelistic Meetings. Evangelist Gary Gillmore of South Bend, Indiana, will be with us March 15-18. He will bring Bible-centered messages that will bless and challenge us. Let’s be now inviting visitors to come with us to the meetings. We need all of our members to be faithful in attendance at these meetings.

Remember that we have an All-Church Prayer Breakfast at 8:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 14, the day before these special meetings begin. We will have prayer with adults together, teens together, and children together.

We need to continue praying for the following:
Will and Terey Kroeker—they are both having serious health problems.
Jan Waters—she is fighting her cancer with special non-surgical, wholistic type treatment.
Shanolyn Martinez is having some difficult physical-emotional problems.
I will appreciate your praying for me undergoing cataract eye surgery on Wednesday, February 25.

Next Sunday Pastor Josh Musgrave will be preaching. Be sure to be present to hear his good messages. I encourage you all to pray that we will see individuals coming to Christ and families with children coming into our fellowship to grow with us at Harvest Baptist Church.

LET’S MAKE MARCH, 2009, A GREAT MONTH IN HARVEST.

Yours and His,

Pastor Nelson

Mutale3 Hay my pastor

I wish you may know the joy It gives me to hear from you, it’s such a great blessing. What you have done has literally changed our lives, we have been getting the money and we got the card, I am able to take my wife to school and pay my bills.

I am so sorry for not replying on time, I have had malaria for the past one month and its only by His grace that I am healed hence I have not been to the internet cafe.

There are lot of challenges here pastor and I am so thankful that God has seen us through. Right now I am just alone I have no associate pastor, I have started a group of young people that I am training in evangelism we go to places, we play soccer with young people of that particular area and after that I preach the gospel and the program seems to be going on well. Pastor please we need your prayers, the needs here are too numerous.

Thank you so much for everything God bless! Greetings to all I intend to write you soon.

Highlights

Dear Church Family,

What a beautiful to sight to look out at the landscape transformed by the white snow. As I look out the window preparing for tomorrow I can’t stop thinking about the sacrifice that Jesus made for me to make my sin as white as snow. I pray that you will begin thinking these thoughts today and prepare your heart for tomorrow’s service. We have a very special service planned tomorrow. Our singing will be focused on the sacrifice that Christ made for us on the cross. Maria Barta, one of our newest members, will be singing one of my favorite songs tomorrow, The Look (the lyrics for this song can be found at the bottom of this post). We will conclude the service with our Sacrifice Sunday Offering. In this offering you will be asked to place your financial, as well as time, sacrifice to Christ. It will be a wonderful time of focus on the work of our precious Savior.

I understand that the snow has made it difficult for many to get out; however, I believe that tomorrow’s service is extremely important for our church. We have a quick fellowship after the service tomorrow followed by a presentation of the plans for our new auditorium. If our church is going to move forward on this building project I believe it is vital for us all to be on the same page. We are planing the future of our church tomorrow. We spent the entire month of January building up to this service. I believe this is a critical time for our church body. We have the opportunity to gather together and focus on the sacrifice that Christ made for us on the cross. I pray that you will be here tomorrow to worship together with the body of Christ.

In Christ,

Pastor Josh

The Look

I saw one hanging on a tree in agony and blood

Who fixed His loving eyes on me as near His cross I stood

And never till my dying breath will I forget that look

It seemed to charge me with His death though not a word He spoke

My conscience felt and owned the guilt and plunged me in despair

I saw my sins His blood had spilt and helped to nail Him there

But with a second look He said “I freely all forgive

this blood is for your ransom paid; I died that you might live”

Thus while His death my sin displays for all the world to view

Such is the mystery of grace; it seals my pardon too

With pleasing grief and mournful joy my spirit now is filled

That I should such a life destroy yet live by Him I killed

CHORUS

Forever etched upon my mind is the look of Him who died

The Lamb I crucified and now my life will sing the praise

Of pure atoning grace that looked on me and gladly

took my place
