We had a very good Lord’s Day yesterday. We began our Revival-Evangelistic meetings with Evangelist Gary Gillmore speaking three times – once in Adult and Teen Bible Studies; second in the Morning Service; and, third, in the Evening service.
His messages were really a blessing to me, and I think the others in attendance would say the same thing. The messages were definitely for revival with the believers. They were straight-forward Bible messages that really dealt with Christians the way in which we must know the dealing of the Lord.
His Sunday night message dealt with backsliding—a very powerful and good message that spoke to our hearts. He showed that just one issue of unbelief or disobedience in a Christians life can produce serious results in the life of a believer. God spoke to me in that message. And then this morning in my devotions one portion I read was 1 Kings 9-11. The verse that really struck home with me was 1 Kings 11:1. That verse begins with the word, “But”. What a big word that is right there. The previous chapters told about the greatness and the glories of Solomon’s kingdom. Then God presented the contrast: “BUT Solomon loved many strange women…” That was his downfall with God. Because of this sin we read in verse 9: “And the Lord was angry with Solomon…” Why was the Lord angry? That these women “…turned away Solomon’s heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David, his father.” Solomon was not careful to guard against backsliding. We all need to be careful that we keep our hearts right with God.
The meetings continue this week as follows:
Service at 7:00 P.M. each night, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Let’s be faithful to these week-night services. If you miss, you are going to miss receiving a blessing.
Remember, since we have a mid-week service on Wednesday night, we will not have our regular mid-week service this Thursday night.
Pray for these special meetings. And do invite others to come with you to the meetings.
God’s best to you all,
Pastor Nelson
