Greetings to you all.
As part of my devotions this morning I read Leviticus 13-14. From those chapters I received a blessing in realizing anew that our salvation is entirely of and from God. These chapters deal with the subject of the dreadful and deadly disease of leprosy. The plague of leprosy, as we find it in the Bible, is a type of sin in our lives today. These chapters present the fact that the only one who could deal with leprosy in Israel was the priest. I found that the title, “priest”, and the pronouns that refer to the priest, appear 121 times in these chapters. Israel could find cleansing and healing by letting the priest do the entire work for the healing. Since leprosy is a type of sin, today we , too, must recognize the only one who can deliver us from sin is our High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ. May we all thank our Lord Jesus daily for his work through the shedding of His blood on the cross as the only basis for our having assurance of our salvation. “Salvation is of the Lord!” [Jonah 2:9 (last part of verse)]
We rejoiced last Sunday that our auditorium was almost completely filled with fifty-five in attendance. We had members of three different families visiting one of our services for the first time last Sunday. Also we had Martha Jasso and her family in attendance. They have just now moved back to Castle Rock, and we welcome them back with us.
We look forward to our Thanksgiving Eve service on Wednesday night, November 25, a time of personal praise for God’s blessings and goodness. Please note that our Mid-Week service that week is on Wednesday instead of the usual time on Thursday. Then we will have our Missions Conference November 29–December 2. We will have Wednesday, Dec. 2, be our Mid-Week Service, and we will not have a service on Thursday of that week.
Pray for our sick.
- Jan Waters is still in great need of our prayers. She has gone back on to oxygen.
- Today David Head had a lung scan. The doctor removed some matter in his lung and trusts that is going to make him feel much better. The matter they removed is being diagnosed at a laboratory.
- Buda Courter is at home, but she is still very weak. Her Daughter, Shirley Ater, is caring for her.
We will look for you to be with us next Sunday in Sunday School and Church.
Yours and His,
Ed Nelson
