Pastor’s Corner

Posted by admin On February - 10 - 2010

We had a good day last Sunday. In the Morning we had a message from Dr. David Canedy. It was an excellent message and a real challenge to all of us about giving to missions. The snow storm really cut into our attendance at Sunday Schoo.l Evangelist Tom Williams came to Sunday School and the Morning Service. On the spur of the moment I decided to ask him to speak to a combined Sunday School class of both Adult Classes. His message was excellent, as you can learn from any one who was in attendance. He really did tickle Casey Robertson’s funny bone. People in that pew said Casey laughed so hard he shook the entire pew. I could hear him laughing from the front pew where I was sitting. Brother Williams drove the point home very clearly: We need to have our hearts right with God. Amen!

Sunday night was a blessing as I preached on the Ninth Chapter of Revelation. Praise the Lord, those who know the Lord will not have to go through the two judgments given in Revelation 9. We followed the Sunday Evening service with observance of the Lord’s Supper. What a blessing to seriously meditate on what Jesus Christ accomplished for us on the Cross of Calvary.

I trust you are praying for Pastor josh Musgrave who is in Zambia ministering the Word of God and who will be visiting the George Mutale family this week. God is blessing his ministry there.

Plan to be present with us next Sunday. We need to see all of you in the Sunday School and the services. I will be speaking in the Morning Service from Revelation 10. I encourage you to come and fill our auditorium again this sunday. We do have a children’s church in the morning and we always have a well staffed nursery. Especially do I want to invite you to our 6:00 P.M. Evening Service. We will have a special speaker, Pastor Bart Janz, Holly Ridge Baptist Church, Northglenn, CO. I have known Pastor Janz for many years. His children attended and graduated from the Silver State Baptist School while I was pastor of South Sheridan Baptist church, the church of which Silver State was a ministry. One of Pastor Janz’ sons, Jeremy, was an pastoral Intern of a Baptist Church in Utah. One night after church he was struck by a truck and was in a coma for almost twenty years. I have heard Pastor Janz
speak of the experience of him and his wife during all that time. It is a stirring message. I asked him to speak on it for our service, and he is able to be with us next Sunday night. It is a message every believer ought to hear, because we are all going to face difficulties. I encourage you to be present next Sunday night. Those who attend will definitely testify that they received a blessing from hearing this message. Remember, next Sunday, night, February 14, 6:00 P.M.

Don’t forget our Valentine’s Fellowship dinner is at the Sienna Restaurant , on Perry Street across from the Fire Station, on Saturday, February 20, at 6:00 P.M.

And also remember that Pastor Josh will be speaking about his trip to Zambia in both services on Sunday, February 21. In the Evening Service that day he will show pictures of Zambia and of his ministry there.

Continue to pray for David Head as he is visiting doctor after doctor (at least two doctors today as I write this) to help them decide the type of treatment he needs to have feeling restored to is legs and feet.

May the Lord bless each of you.

Yours and His,

Pastor Nelson

Dear Church Family,

What a beautiful to sight to look out at the landscape transformed by the white snow. As I look out the window preparing for tomorrow I can’t stop thinking about the sacrifice that Jesus made for me to make my sin as white as snow. I pray that you will begin thinking these thoughts today and prepare your heart for tomorrow’s service. We have a very special service planned tomorrow. Our singing will be focused on the sacrifice that Christ made for us on the cross. Maria Barta, one of our newest members, will be singing one of my favorite songs tomorrow, The Look (the lyrics for this song can be found at the bottom of this post). We will conclude the service with our Sacrifice Sunday Offering. In this offering you will be asked to place your financial, as well as time, sacrifice to Christ. It will be a wonderful time of focus on the work of our precious Savior.

I understand that the snow has made it difficult for many to get out; however, I believe that tomorrow’s service is extremely important for our church. We have a quick fellowship after the service tomorrow followed by a presentation of the plans for our new auditorium. If our church is going to move forward on this building project I believe it is vital for us all to be on the same page. We are planing the future of our church tomorrow. We spent the entire month of January building up to this service. I believe this is a critical time for our church body. We have the opportunity to gather together and focus on the sacrifice that Christ made for us on the cross. I pray that you will be here tomorrow to worship together with the body of Christ.

In Christ,

Pastor Josh

The Look

I saw one hanging on a tree in agony and blood

Who fixed His loving eyes on me as near His cross I stood

And never till my dying breath will I forget that look

It seemed to charge me with His death though not a word He spoke

My conscience felt and owned the guilt and plunged me in despair

I saw my sins His blood had spilt and helped to nail Him there

But with a second look He said “I freely all forgive

this blood is for your ransom paid; I died that you might live”

Thus while His death my sin displays for all the world to view

Such is the mystery of grace; it seals my pardon too

With pleasing grief and mournful joy my spirit now is filled

That I should such a life destroy yet live by Him I killed

CHORUS

Forever etched upon my mind is the look of Him who died

The Lamb I crucified and now my life will sing the praise

Of pure atoning grace that looked on me and gladly

took my place
