Couples Retreat Info

(hint scroll down for the pictures)

I wanted to give everyone an update on the Couples Retreat coming up next week. For those of you that are attending I will also be sending you an email with more information. For those of you that are not able to attend this year, I posted this so that you will be jealous and attend next year.

We will be staying at the beautiful Big Horn Lodge in Breckenridge, CO. We are staying in a 10 bedroom 10.5 bathroom lodge right in the heart of downtown Breckenridge. Dinner and breakfast will be served at the huge 22 seat dining room table. See the menu below it is the last image in the gallery.

You can arrive at the Lodge any time after 3:00pm. There are only 4 parking spots for the lodge so carpooling is encouraged (with gas prices where they are your wallet will also thank you). After these parking slots are taken up all other parking will be on street parking. If you are driving up try and save the 4 spots that we do have for those who aren’t as young as they used to be. The address is

306 N French St
Breckenridge CO 80424

Free time starts just before lunch on Friday afternoon. Begin with lunch at one of the many restaurants in Breckenridge. Then plan to spend the rest of your afternoon as you would like. There is some good shopping in Breckenridge. If you wanted you could take the short trip to the Outlet Mall in Silverthorne. There are some very nice places in town to take a walk down by the river. You could also ride the gondola up to the base of Breck to take in some of the amazing scenery. Or you could just stick around at the Lodge and enjoy the fellowship. We will probably have a couple of groups breaking up to do different things together just in case you don’t know what to do.

The Schedule for the retreat will be as follows.

Thursday

3:00pm-6:00pm – Arrival
6:30pm – Dinner
8:00pm – Session 1

I encourage each of you to begin praying now that God will demonstrate to you how you can be a better husband or wife. I am trilled about the opportunity to get to spend time with each of you, and also to pour time into my relationship with my wife.

In Christ,
Pastor Josh

Church Canceled – February 24th 2013

Due to the severe weather predicted during the regularly scheduled church services this Sunday we are going to cancel all church services for today. We will have our scheduled business meeting next Sunday night instead of tonight. I was planning on preaching John 15:1-11 this morning. Take some time to sit down with your family and discuss this passage together. I will miss you all.

Carpet is installed + request for workers tomorrow

Dear Church Family,

It’s all coming together. With the carpet installed you can really get a picture of what the finished product will look like. Praise the Lord for his marvelous work. I have been thrilled with the work that the body of the church has done in accomplishing this project. I can’t wait till we can move in. (Don’t tell anyone but I may have moved into my office at church. It’s a bit cool, but it’s quiet.)

We are going to be painting moulding tomorrow beginning at 8:00am. Hope to see you there. I know I don’t need to say this but, the Ladies are welcome to come as well. The more painters we have the less time that it will take.

In Christ,

Pastor Josh

Work Day Tomorrow at 8:30am

Dear Church Family,

Sunday will be out first service in our new building. It’s not quite done yet but the drywall is up and It’s got heat. Because of this we have a special work opportunity for everyone in the church. I’m gonna bring my girls. I want them to be a part of this incredible occasion.

Most of the work that needs to be done is cleaning. We will also be doing a little bit of decorating and setting up a temporary sound system and stage.

We will be serving a breakfast for everyone that comes. Please come and work with us.

Pastor Josh

Praise

Dear Church Family,

Toronto water heating specialists came, and we passed our all of rough inspections yesterday HVAC, Framing, and Electrical. The drywallers are coming in tomorrow with a double team so they should have the sheet rock up and ready for us to have a service in there Sunday Morning.

We will be doing a significant amount of clean up on Thursday night and Saturday all day. I encourage you to come out and help. Saturday will be a big day. We are going to be setting up chairs and sound system and making things comfortable for the services Sunday. We are in the end of our building project if you haven’t gotten out to work on the project yet the window for being able to help out is growing shorter.

See you all soon,

Pastor Josh

Sleep in this Sunday

Go ahead and sleep in this Sunday morning but only 1 hour. That’s right; it’s time change Sunday so set your clocks back 1 hour Saturday night. This would be a great time for you to start coming for Sunday School if you aren’t already. You could get up the same time as normal to be here by 9:30 when Sunday School starts. We are working through the book of Malachi in Sunday School and are studying, Arguing with God. The lessons are about to get really exciting as we see the awesome blessings God promises when we surrender to Him and stop arguing.

See you this Sunday,

Pastor Josh

What if the church left the building?

Dear Church Family,

On Sunday we finished our 50th message on the Church in our series on Acts. This series has been a wonderful blessing for me as I study and allow the Lord to work in my heart. Throughout this series our church like the churches in Acts has grown significantly. When we started this series last year we were running 35-45 people on a Sunday Morning. We are now running just over 60 people.

Praise the Lord for His work in growing our church. However, every growing church goes through growing pains, and we are in the middle of them. Our auditorium is full every Sunday. Our Children’s program has grown significantly and is in need of more workers. Our nursery was literally bursting out at the seams so we just had to expand to a toddler and an infant nursery. This expansion has almost doubled our need for nursery workers. The building project is well on its way and is consuming more and more of our time and efforts. All of these things add to the financial burden of the church. I truly believe that God is the one growing our church and when God grows the church He also provides the people to do the work of the church. God never calls us to do something that He also does not provide the power for us to accomplish His calling.

For this reason I have decided to put aside our series on the book of Acts for a while and begin a short series titled, “What if the church left the building?” In this series I am praying that we will learn that church isn’t a building but a body in which every member plays an equally important role. I have decided to begin this series by looking at a sermon titled, “Rethinking Church”. In this message we will look at the doctrine of fellowship. Early on in my Dad’s ministry when I was still a very young child someone asked me what a fellowship was. I used all of the experiences that I had watching my Dad serve as Youth Pastor and Assistant Pastor and answered, “That’s when every one sits on the floor and eats.” During my years as a Pastor I have learned that there are many adult believers that still believe the same thing, though they don’t eat on the floor anymore.

I believe this is an area in which our church needs to grow. Church fellowship is more than eating together. It describes the church’s collective fellowship with Christ. I pray that this series will cause us to stop simply doing church and start being the church. I hope that each of you will make an effort to be here this Sunday for our services. We will be defining the Doctrine of Fellowship in the morning service. After our dinner on the grounds we will be applying the Doctrine of Fellowship in the afternoon service.

In Christ,
Pastor Josh

P.S. Don’t forget about the work day Thursday evening at 6:00pm. We need as many people as possible to get this shed put together.
